With your help, we will complete our restoration.
Exciting times are in store for The Speaker’s House! Nine years ago, with the help of many supporters, we paid off a hefty mortgage and began work on a painstaking campaign to research all aspects of The Speaker’s House and plan for its restoration. Phase 1 began in 2012 with stucco removal and major structural repairs, including the replacement of rotten joists and a missing beam in the cellar. In phase 2, from 2014–16, we rebuilt an entire chimneystack and four corner fireplaces. In preparation for the roof restoration, we also rebuilt the triangular peaks of the stone gable walls—the last stone of which was just laid last week. We are now ready to embark on phases 3 and 4—restoration of the original pitched rooflines and the kitchen wing.
We are just $20,000 short of the funds needed to complete the roof replacement. Would you help us close this gap by making a generous contribution to our Raise the Roof campaign by June 30? As we prepare to initiate this transformative phase of the restoration, your donation is more important now than ever. With your help, we will complete the roof restoration in 2017—Trappe’s 300th anniversary—and build a legacy that lasts another 300 years or more.
Please consider making a donation today by sending a check made payable to The Speaker’s House or donate online.
