CONGRESSMAN JIM GERLACH AND COUNTY COMMISSIONER JOE HOEFFEL TO RECEIVE SPEAKER’S CHOICE AWARDS

LEADERS IN PRESERVATION WILL BE HONORED AT SPEAKER’S HOUSE ANNUAL MEETING

Trappe, PA – Congressman Jim Gerlach (PA 6th District) and Montgomery County Commissioner Joe Hoeffel will be honored at the Speaker’s House annual meeting with the first annual Speaker’s Choice Award.    This award recognizes leadership and commitment to preserving The Speaker’s House, the home of Frederick Muhlenberg, first Speaker of the House of Representatives.  The awards will be presented to Congressman Gerlach and Commissioner Hoeffel at The Speaker’s House annual meeting on Tuesday, December 2.  The annual meeting begins at 7 pm and the awards ceremony will be at 8 pm.  The meeting will be held at Augustus Lutheran Church, located at 717 W. Main Street in Trappe.  Refreshments will be served and there is no admission charge.

“It is fitting to honor Jim Gerlach and Joe Hoeffel because each has been active in the efforts to save The Speaker’s House since the project began in 2001,” says Speaker’s House Executive Director Allison Weiss.  “Jim helped to obtain a grant that funded architectural and archaeological investigations, and two years of operating support.  Joe supported the decision by Montgomery County to preserve The Speaker’s House as open space, and has been instrumental in getting local unions involved in some building stabilization projects.”
